Niger: How a team of palaeontologists found five giant dinosaurs
These dinosaurs are some of the largest creatures to have ever walked the Earth. In a rare discovery, a team of palaeontologists working in the Niger desert discovered five skeletons of ancient sauropods.
Scientists estimate that sauropods lived on Earth between 145 and 180 million years ago. These are rare specimens, to say the least, and unearthing them requires great care.
One of the volunteer palaeontologists on the dig, Vincent Reneleau, told the FRANCE 24 Observers team how he and his colleagues managed to unearth several sauropod skeletons without damaging them.
