Logro the Elephant regularly visits inhabitants of Tchébloguhé village in central Ivory Coast. Locals (who named him Logro) have developed various theories to explain his presence in the area. Some believe his mother died, while others think he's one of their ancestors reincarnated. Our Observer believes that Logro spends time with people in the village because he lacks resources in his natural habitat due to deforestation and urbanisation.

The number of elephants has fallen drastically over the last 30 years in the country of which Logro is a symbol, from 1100 in 1990 to less than 500 in 2020.
