Video: In Iraq, a caregiver comforts Covid-19 patients by singing

Videos of a young Iraqi caregiver singing for patients fighting the novel coronavirus are being widely shared on Instagram. These excerpts have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times. As the pandemic continues to escalate in the country, the songs lift the spirits of Iraqis.
This caregiver, a volunteer nurse at Basra University Hospital in southern Iraq, sings traditional melodies while drawing blood from patients with Covid-19 in a hospital room.
Mohamad al-Khatar, 33, does not hesitate to use his melodious voice to comfort patients hospitalized at Basra University Hospital. He began working at the hospital at the start of this year.
