Video: Playing football with one leg in Gaza

In the Gaza Strip, repeated Israeli offensives have left many people with injuries, sometimes resulting in amputations. A group of these amputees have recently formed a football club in which most players have one leg, except for the goalkeepers, who have one arm.

The Deir al-Balah team uses special reinforced crutches. Some of their members already played football before losing limbs; others are learning the sport. According to their manager Mahmoud Naouq, who himself uses a wheelchair, the team’s goal is to give hope to people living with disabilities in Gaza.
