The 'Dirt-Carriers' of Gujarat: India's Forgotten People


The Valmiki are right at the bottom of India's caste system. These men and women are part of a caste deemed 'Untouchable', and it is their lot in life to clean public toilets by hand. The Valmiki live apart from society because of their status as lower-class citizens, but there are some Indians fighting for the rights of this group.
