A brave 16-year-old boy got his 15 minutes of fame after intercepting a criminal fleeing from a police car. Sussex police honoured the teenage hero by publishing a video of the daring capture on their website.

On September 15, Kiya Ingham was walking down Lewes Road in Brighton when he spotted a man pushing two policemen and running away. He quickly jumped on the man and pinned him to the ground, allowing the officers to catch him. Sussex police explained that the man was inebriated and had been arrested on a domestic violence charge.

The young man’s courage was celebrated during a police ceremony, at which he received rapturous applause.
