Poland boasts world's largest Jesus statue

Jesus lived to 33, therefore he deserves a statue that is 33 metres high. That is precisely what the mayor of Swiebodzin, a Polish town of 22000 people, is going to erect.

Jesus lived to 33, therefore he deserves a statue that is 33 metres high. That is precisely what the mayor of Swiebodzin, a Polish town of 22000 people, has erected.

If you count the plinth and the mound on which the statue is placed, the "Christ the King" statue competes with the "Christ the Redeemer" statue in Rio de Janeiro as the largest statue of Jesus in the world.

Reverend Sywester Zawadzki launched this project and designed the statue after being "called on to do so by Jesus". He has been nicknamed the "builder priest" by locals, having already constructed two churches in Swiebodzin.
