The real Jack Sparrow helps London school kids 'mutiny'

If you’re a British schoolkid, it’s not every day that you bump into a Hollywood superstar. Or a pirate, for that matter. But the kids at an East London school got to meet both when Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp showed up for a surprise visit in their classroom.

The actor turned up at the Meridian Primary School unnanounced early October in full pirate gear, in response to a letter that 9-year-old pupil Beatrice Delap wrote to ‘Captain Jack Sparrow’ asking for help staging a mutiny against teachers.

“Captain Jack Sparrow”, Beatrice wrote, “At Meridian Primary School, we are a bunch of budding young pirates and we were having a bit of trouble mutiny-ing against the teachers, and we'd love if you could come and help. Beatrice Delap, aged nine, a budding pirate.”

This is not the first time the actor has paid surprise visits to his young London fans. He paid a clandestine visit to the Great Ormond Street Hospital children's ward to read stories to little patients after his daughter Lily Rose was treated there for kindey failure in 2007.
