The P&O Pacific Sun cruise ship hit rough waters some 400 miles (482 km) off the coast of New Zealand. With winds blowing at more than 50 knots (100 km/h), staff and passengers were repeatedly thrown from one side of the deck to the other as the ship swung to and fro. 42 passengers – out of 1,732 – suffered light injuries. P&O has offered passengers a 20% discount on their next cruise.
