On the ground, legless and armless, Hillary refuses to lay down her sword

Hillary Clinton is trailing in the number of pledged delegates. Everyone, or nearly everyone, considers her beaten for the nomination. But the senator from New York refuses to lay down her sword. This thirst for battle, whatever the cost, has inspired one of our observers in the U.S., who compared Hillary Clinton's attitude to that of the famous “black knight” from Monty Python. Barack Obama is now credited with 1,957 delegates, and he needs 2,025 to win the nomination. Three primaries remain between now and June 3rd and for Hillary Clinton it is mathematically impossible to catch up to her rival in terms of pledged delegates. She can only count on the possibly of a massive turn of super-delegates in her favor.

"I think it’s logical that Hillary's not quitting"

Meredith Gowan Le Goff, an American lawyer living in Paris, is the vice-president of Democrats Abroad. She supports Clinton.

This video doesn’t surprise me. Hillary is constantly the target of these kinds of jokes. Obama is better on the internet and he has much more support from bloggers. It’s surely a question of generation, because Hillary has some fifteen years on him. And furthermore, Obama has gotten the help of the Moveon (moveon.org) network, which is very powerful on the web. This is, by the way, one of the contradictions of this candidate, who is supported by a network of people on the left of the democratic party, but writes books that place him on the right of the same party. Well, it has to be acknowledged that Obama is a better communicator. Clinton is superior to him in the debates, because she masters her issues in a deeper way, but she comes off worse in the media.

I think it’s logical that Hillary’s not quitting. Why would she? In 1980, Ted Kennedy fought Jimmy Carter to the end [of the primaries] and the race then was far from being as close as it is today. Anything can still happen. The super-delegates could declare themselves massively in favour of Hillary. And we have to wait for the Rules and Bylaws Committee to meet on Saturday. They will decide if we should count the votes of Michigan and Florida [the primaries which didn’t count because they changed the dates without the approval of the national party] which could change the situation. But, whatever happens, I’m sure that Hillary will stay on through June 3rd [the date of the last primaries, in South Dakota and Montana]".

Hillary, Obama’s black knight

The clip was posted on YouTube by "The public service administration", a group of former journalists in the US. It’s based on an idea by blogger John Aravosis and parodies a scene from Monty Python and The Holy Grail, the cult film by the British comedy troup. (the original scene).
