Dear Paul,
happened to find your adventurous tour on youtube and liked it very much.I own the same model of MotoGuzzi, bought it brandnew 1971 but on behalf of the engine I got a lot of troubles (Poor oil pressure, broken valve, poor power..)One day 1974 I took the engine to Agostinis in Mandello del Lario to have it fixed. After this it had been equipped with a new stronger engine housing, primary drive with chaindrive (not wheels) and a new oil pump.Since then, believe it or not, I´ve never tried the engine! But I kept the motorcycle all my life, hoping to fix it one day.The sound of of yours is quite wonderful!!What did they change or improve then in Amsterdam?I think about bringing or sending my engine to the same garage in the Netherlands if it would surely become so reliable and nice sounding as yours!(Very important, what did you pay for the engine work ?)
I´m now almost 60 years old , loving motocycles all my life, (dreamt to go to Jemen in the 80s by landroute but only on a BMW R100GS I owned then but did not go farer than Turkey) and I think it to be a really fulfilled dream if I could run my MOTO GUZZI before the end of life!
(Of south America I know only Cali, Aquablanca -El Retiro- where a tough german Jesuit, Padre Alfredo Welker, worked for the poorest of teh poor,I joined him in the nieties for almost two months to support him, a little bit of Bogota and Cartagena, I´m too convinced of the fact:you will find the nicest people in ...Colombia!!)
Hope you will receive my small mail and I´m looking forward to your reply
All the best - neck and arm breaking!
