A propos :

I am very libertarian in my political and personal views, as codified by the Zero-Aggression Principle (ZAP):"No human being has the right, under ANY circumstances, to initiate force against another human being nor to threaten or delegate its initiation." Government, being the primary initiator of force, MUST be eliminated in ALL its forms.

I love guns, swords,& knives. Hiking/wandering through the woods. Practicing primitive wilderness survival. Animals. The wonderful (yet, tragically, cancelled) TV series "Firefly" with its crew of space-"outlaws". I thoroughly enjoy debating creationists and their superstitions. I am interested in (but skeptical of) UFOs, cryptozoology, and odd phenomena. I am fascinated by quantum physics and string theory.

guns in the US

Dear libertarian,

one reason there are many more murders in the US than
in Europe is because you have much more guns everywhere!

I'm going to the US on vacation soon.

It is quite uncomfortable knowing that if I get into
an argument with a usual civilian he could just at any
time pull a gun at me.
It happens b.ex. in the traffic in US - drivers who start to argue,
usual people who are not "bad guys" in any sense at all of the word.

It's just way too easy - if you feel threatend - pull a gun!

Don't try to talk, don't try to understand, don't make a step back
and swallow your pride, don't say I"m sorry - I was wrong" -

no just pull the gun and shoot the idiot!

please have a look and compare how people treated each other
after Katrina in US and after the Tsunami in Thailand.
In the later people did all they could to help each other,
after Katrina some neighbourhouds blocked the roads and fended
off refugees who needed food and shelter!!!

no, sorry sir - but the freedom in US is for me a joke -
where 50 million people every day don't have enough to eat!!

in the United States of America?... who can afford to send thousands
of troops abroad to Iraq and Afganistan?...

Multiple Misperceptions

You are mixing different issues and are confused. I know a lot of people who carry guns with them everywhere they go every single day. Not one of them has ever gotten into an arguement and shot anyone. In fact, people who carry guns are more likely to avoid arguements because they know they can handle any attacker and the little things just don't bother them as much. The criminals who attack and kill others who "disrespect" them are not "typical gun owners" even if they posess a gun. They are parasites who think a gun will make them a big man. Some of them wear a badge.

The US government is not representative of the people in America. "We" do not send troops to invade other countries; the government does, and many of us do not support that.

People in America are quick to reach out to others, both here and in other countries, when help is needed. Those "Katrina refugees" you speak of may have been threatening to steal food and shelter from those who had planned ahead. I prepare for the unknown and get ridiculed for it. Do you think I would hand my supplies over to those who denigrate me for stocking up in case of emergency? I guess the news reports of Katrina which reached Europe neglected to mention that it was government forces who refused to allow private people and charities to give aid to the Katrina victims.
