correct translation?

I'm quite surprised by the words I've read about the end of Prague's spring.

the translation in french says : "Les événements de Prague ont montré que la Russie était prête à protéger ses intérêts et qu'elle savait trouver des arguments convaincants pour ceux qui désireraient changer de camp."

it can be translted by : "the events in Prague showed that Russia was ready to protect its interests, and that it could find convincing arguments for those who desired to get out"

Is that really your idea? you consider that sending tanks to people is an "argument"?...

Of course, tanks isn't good

Of course, tanks isn't good answer for any situation, but at the same time it's hard to do something against them.So it can be an argument.
I really think that invasion шт 1968 was a serious crime of USSR.
But situation in Osetia has another structure, people there were russian citezens and georgian army killed them.Mission of russian peacekeepers was to defend our own people.

Georgia

"Great!" :-) all these debates are very easy when you are far.
why don't don't you speak about russian "peacekeeping operations" - issue passports and force population to get russin passports. the same goes on now in Geogria, many georgians and osetians as well, people who don't want russian passports, were ckicked out by russian forces. also, there is about 60 % of people lived in Abkhazia from 1992 are refuges in Tbilisi.
All is terrible. inocent people die. I don't beleive any politision cares about people, and you as well.

Yes, all this debates are

Yes, all this debates are very easy when you are far.
In november of 2006 I arrived to Osetia, and i saw georgian snipers in the top of the hill. Now my friend are there, and every day i phone to Osetia and i know situation.
People are happy, that Russia gave them independence.
I never see any osetian who don't want to be a part of Russia. And 90% of citizens of Osetia have russian passport.
And every osetian hate Georgia, becouse in the begining of 90 there was civil war in Osetia and Abhazia.
