Your message board entry regarding Chelsea V Burnley 13/11/08

Dear Nick,

As an avid Talksport listener I often visit the Talksport website. Whilst visiting the site today, I came across your Message Board post 'CHELSEA OUT OF LEAGUE CUP AS DROGBA LOSES HEAD'. I wanted to post a reply on there but there appeared to be a problem as the page refused to load.

The reason for my reply was that, whilst unsurprised, I was extremely annoyed and frustrated by your need to describe my team as 'lowly Burnley'. Just because we aren't in the top four of the premiership does not make us lowly.

We are 5th in the Championship at present, a founder member of the Football League and have an illustrious heritage. Perhaps you should check these facts before making such a statement.

I could so easily say we are not lowly like, perhaps, Luton, Bournemouth or Grimsby but I would not show them the disrespect you have shown to Burnley.

I took the opportunity to 'Google' your name and found you are a Manchester United fan from London. Well that explains a lot. It's a shame that following such a club you will never feel the rare, true emotion experienced by those 6,000 or so travelling fans last night.

It is a sad and all too common theme in football to think that anything below the Premiership is worthless and means nothing to anybody. I can assure that millions of people the length and breadth of the country would disagree with that and it is these people, who tolerate such hard times and have very little success to cheer, who deserve the ultimate respect.

Apologies if my comments seem to be an over reaction but that is the way I and many of my peers feel. At least for one night only we got one over on the footballing aristocracy and you'll never know how good that feels.

Kind Regards

Julian
