I'm an 80-year-old Czech. I was a pilot and a dissident. In 1948 I tried to flee the country but was stopped for questioning at the border. When I was released from prison the first time, I then involved myself in underground anti-communist circles, before being arrested again and sent to prison. I was released after 17 years of jail and camps and went to Canada where I lived in exile before returning to live in the Czech Republic.
