Michael,
Clearly the Chinese world view is very different.
Justifying repression in order to maintain stability - we in the West do not accept.
Censorship in order to avoid people getting upset - we in the West do not accept.
Destruction of environment affecting the world - we in the West do not accept.
Imprisoning and torturing monks because they want to practice - we in the West do not tolerate.
Since you openly acknowledge censorship and propaganda in China, how can you be someone that thinks that you know the truth? I can open thousands of media sources to find out information.
You, on the other hand, chose to believe what the government wants you to believe. While this is delusion, you are free to say that you want to believe this because it is best for you and your fellow citizens. However, it is ridiculous for you to think that anyone outside China will accept that corrupted view!

To a Chinese living in Vancouver and calling China 'his' country - As a Canadian myself I hope that you will not get canadian citizenship until you decide which of the two really is your country.
I now live in London and have lived in Paris. Let me explain why people demonstrate. There are very few Tibetans demonstrating compared to the crowds of local people. There are many reasons why people do not support China and their 'show off' in staging the Olympics brings these feelings of dislike to the surface. Reasons:
1 -China's lack of human rights for his people and foreigners: how many people do China arrests every year? How many do they execute? What is the quality of their legal systems? Don't they arrest journalists and anyone else Chinese simply because these people do not support the state?
2 - Their lack of care in all the manufacturing they do on behalf of the world. One cannot trust any product made in China in how they treat their workers and how the products are made (eg recalls of baby products painted with toxic paints recently. Being of a scientific background, I would not eat food grown in China (irregulated use of pesticides, herbicides and toxic wastes) and would not use pharma products made in that country because made without crucial appropriate quality control. Care and concern for customers does not exist, only a quest for money.
3 -Their lack of respect for intellectual property: they copy anything and steal technology in all ways of life, high technology, medium technology and in all consumer goods (eg the copying of videos/dvd, films, music, high value goods, etc) Ask any manufacturer of high price good (Eg Louis Vuitton, Chanel, etc) and any pharmaceutical company, car companies, engine & aerospace companies, etc.
4 - Their lack of environmental concern: not only the air/atmosphere is suffering but its own people are slowly being poisonned by toxic waste accumulation in the soil, polluted rivers, etc
5 - Their activities in the less developed countries such as in Africa and South America where they will raid these of their raw material, give them money in exchange, without any regard to anything else. Business has no ethical face as far as China is concerned!
6 - All over the world we have seen pictures of how China is treating its children as it is/has been training them for the Olympics. The concern for top medal position is more important than the happiness and welfare of its children. Some of the pictures seen appear to non-Chinese like torture.
These are very important reasons and form the basis of people's reaction to China who is now going around the world trying to show off its modernism. Tibet is a very small element in the Londoners and Parisian showing their dislike of China's position and activities in the world.
China may get top marks in trade but you is not getting the respect of the world and that is what you see now on TV.

ChinaWolf would not be able to use YouTube to do ANYTHING if he was actually in China. Because China is shielded from the real world by censorship. Because China (not the people) but the State is an evil totalitarian force interested only in power, greed and domination. The treatment of the Tibetan monks and people is an abomination and a stain and a scar on the face of the earth. There is NO excuse for it. NO response for it. No words that can make this disgusting treatment of human beings acceptable.

Here in the West we have the right to think.
