Hard to encourage people to give blood when you're not willing to do it yourself. That's the story of two Iranian officials, after journalists released footage of them making fake donations.
The director and an employee of a blood transfusion centre in Yazd, central Iran, decided to get local film crews to document them giving blood as a way of getting others to do the same. They didn't actually want to give up any blood however. But the result, seen in this video, probably got them more attention in any case.

The clip
was first aired by a local TV channel. Obviously the bit at the end when we
find out the truth wasn't shown. But the master clip was then picked up by Tehran station Channel 3,
who decided to play it in its entirety as a laugh. It is quite funny, and
hardly a scandal, but what it does reveal is evidence of dishonesty on Iranian
TV. This silly story of not giving blood is a model example of state
propaganda."

Oh, the humanity...
