Amateur video: highway patrol pull over ambulance

This video, in which we see two Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers pull over an ambulance in action, has already received over a million hits on YouTube since it was posted ten days ago. Viewers are outraged by what they consider to be a brutal act.

The scene took place on 24 May in the Oklahoma county of Okfuskee. The footage was filmed by Kenyada Davis, the son of the patient who was being taken to hospital. He was following the ambulance by car.

The dispute broke out after the ambulance driver failed to yield to the highway patrol car until contacted by radio. According to Davis, the ambulance was not aware of the police vehicle trying to pass until too late.

The highway patrol officers however, decided to pull over the ambulance in order to reprimand the driver for failing to yield. According to trooper Daniel Martin, it was during this telling off that the other paramedic, Maurice White Jr, "slammed the door in a hostile manner". He says that after tensions rose White grabbed him by the neck. This cannot be confirmed by the video. What is seen however, is Martin pushing White against the vehicle and holding him by the throat after telling him that he is under arrest.

According to an eyewitness, the trooper appeared to be angry and when asked to allow the patient be taken to hospital, threatened the paramedic with arrest for the obstruction of justice.

In his statement, White says that he remained calm throughout. He says that the situation became difficult when the officer tried to handcuff him.

Footage recorded by the patrol car's camera has so far been kept confidential.

In the USA...

...such incidents are sadly common, even if this video is fake. Even at the best of times, Police Officers lose their cool (like many of us do from time to time) and forget their oaths. The stress of the job and variety of hours they work can bring up the worst in the officers. Given the moral and important nature of their job, they have not the luxury of error. That is why incidents like this should not go unpunished.

the officers ought to be

the officers ought to be waterboarded and whatever else that the U.S. government doesn't consider to be torture.

I used to believe what I

I used to believe what I used to see on these short videos, but now. I do not believe what i see, since they only show a short version of it and nobody knows what led to these situations. So I would say, let's law take it course and truth shall be told. Also, stop posting these half told stories. I feel for both the parties but would not just blame the officer either. Because these people put their lives on line to protect ours.

Cheers,
A concerned citizen

about police officers

the argument that what is shown on the video, being a fabrication, as one of the respondents wrote, is authentic, is in good point, but at least there's a footage of it. It can be found more about it. Then there's the comment that police are there to protect the public, well, and also to keep a watch on us.
The idea that a set of humans are against the law, and others for the law just for their appearance, is naive.

These policemans thinks that they have the authority to do anything which they want. It has become necessary to teach these people a lesson. How they will stop any crime if they are doing crimes themseleves.
