Our TV programme – what do you think?

A year and a half after the launch of the website and six months since our first radio show on Radio France Internationale, The Observers is now available in TV form too. Broadcast on FRANCE 24 in both French and English, the programme features the fantastic work that our Observers have shared with us since the beginning of the site. We hope you like it!

First broadcast on May 23. Presented by Derek Thomson. Editorial team: Julien Pain, Sophie Pilgrim, Ségolène Malterre, Tatiana el Khoury.

Good job. Very interesting. Enough of an "insider feel" to make news decadent, yet relevant.

MY PRESS IN IS "their!" pocket (L-it runs my country)

hello
i know that france 24 and al jazeera are the closest thing to the definition of "free press"....yet, i know that both are not 100% free ...al jazeera belongs to qatar oil and chinese government and france 24 must be in the hands of very powerful ppl too...FOR SURE...

im portuguese and i consider myself (and 99%of earth ppl) as BRAINWASHED PPL

in my country...our "berlusconi" is behind the power and behind the tv camera
our "berlusconi" controls our politics...IN and OUT...he distracts , he entertains...he invents matters...he defines what really matters to be discussed

our "berlusconi" is entertaining the people with "shitty" football and helping corroupted politicias and other kinds of criminal walk away...to distract the people from the truth

IN PORTUGAL THE RULER HAS A NAME...francisco pinto balsemao...co founder of the oposition party and member of the "bilderberg club" since 1988...

he controls and directs distraction operations made by his company (IMPRESA SGPS) and PRISA (spanish elite owned)...and both, together...are pressuring our public tv...and the 3...together...dont expose what really matters

IN MY COUNTRY THE PRESS IS 99% in the hands of IMPRESA AND PRISA...

and im trusting one of the trustful networks to expose a PORTUGUESE PROBLEM

HELP US...

LONG LIVE PORTUGAL FREE OF IMPERIALISTS

So good. I think that you have to create an embeddable video for online and video live chat with some Observers. Not only Tv program but also an online section with Observers video.

Very Supportive of the Contributors

hey folks,

right on! i really like how the video showcases the efforts of The Observers. its a great way to keep everybody invested in continuing to write for F24, too, because of the wide publicity contributors will undoubtedly receive for breaking these kinds of stories.

i've edited a number of volunteer-staffed (except the editors) periodicals over the last ten years, and there's nothing better than videos like these to help reward everyone for their hard work. i bet it will also help bring in more submissions, too, especially video. very cool.

best, joel

Like the content

Like the content interspersed with a bit of chat from the presenter. I prefer when we see/hear the bloggers talking rather than just seeing videos - it adds adds a sense of who is the person behind the citizen journalism.

A little technical criticism - I think either 'cell phone' or 'mobile phone' should be used when inviting people to contact you - portbale phone seems to be a French-ism to me!

Hi Gabriel, thanks for your kind comments. The show is broadcast on FRANCE 24 on Saturdays at around 8:15am Paris time (GMT+2) and then at various times throughout the week. But if you're online it's easier to watch here on the site.
