We didn't even know he was working on Khalil Musa's case and had no idea he was in such a situation. But, there is something that is clear: my brother was a wonderful man who loved life. If he taped this video it is because he felt he was in danger and certainly not because he was into some conspiracy against the government as they want people to believe. I believe my brother and will not let them sully his name. There is no conspiracy whatsoever. Rodrigo found evidence on a touchy case and had no way back. The government is trying to put my brother's words in doubt and that's why we need all the international pressure we can get so justice can be done."

Lawyer who predicted his own death: “I was murdered by President Colom”
"If you are currently watching or listening to this message, it's because I was murdered by President Alvaro Colom". Four days later, lawyer Rodrigo Rosenberg Marzan was shot dead in broad daylight.
The 47-year-old was killed last Sunday while out cycling in the Guatemalan capital. In this video, which he recorded beforehand, he charges President Colom responsible for both his own death (yet to come), and the deaths of businessman Khalid Musa and his daughter Marjorie Musa of 14 April 2008. According to Marzan, the victims were killed off in an attempt to cover up the embezzlement of public funds and laundering of money earned through trafficking drugs. The alleged dealings included Banrural, one of the country's biggest part state-owned banks.
The government immediately denied the allegations. In a press conference last Monday, a spokesperson for the president described the claims as a "conspiracy to destabilise the country", and on the same day, the president himself called on the FBI and the UN's International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala to find "those really responsible for the crime". His words however, did not convince the public, who, in calling for his resignation, staged mass protests in the capital.

Colom protests
In front of the presidential palace last Tuesday, protesters shout "murderers!" The man speaking with a megaphone is a local journalist. He's demanding that the president steps down.

Amenazado y golpeado el escritor Ángel Santiesteban
El autor del blog 'Los hijos que nadie quiso', alojado en CUBAENCUENTRO.com, tiene un brazo fracturado producto del incidente.

El escritor Ángel Santiesteban fue amenazado y golpeado este domingo por la tarde en el Vedado, Ciudad de La Habana, cuando se dirigía a casa de una amiga.
Santiesteban, autor del blog Los hijos que nadie quiso, alojado en CUBAENCUENTRO.com, tiene un brazo fracturado producto de la agresión, informaron fuentes cercanas al escritor.
De acuerdo con el relato de las fuentes, un hombre se le acercó cuando caminaba por la calle y le dijo que no le convenía "hacerse el contrarrevolucionario". Santiesteban respondió que sólo se dedica a escribir lo que piensa y preguntó si se trataba de una amenaza. El hombre le dijo que lo tomara como quisiera y arrebató al escritor papeles en los que llevaba impreso un post para publicar en su blog.
Santiesteban se defendió y, tras un forcejeo, el hombre perdió el equilibrio y sacó una navaja, indicaron las fuentes.
El escritor corrió a buscar un palo para defenderse. De un auto Lada salió otro hombre con un tubo y se produjo un intercambio de golpes del que Santiesteban salió con un brazo fracturado, un corte superficial de navaja en el otro, y varios golpes en el resto del cuerpo.
El bloguero fue atendido en el cuerpo de guardia del Hospital Naval por un ortopeda con grado de capitán que certificó la fractura. Actualmente, se encuentra fuera de su casa, en paradero desconocido, por temor a nuevos ataques.
Ángel Santiesteban fue citado en marzo pasado por el Ministerio del Interior para un interrogatorio.
En abril, la vicepresidenta para las Relaciones Internacionales del Instituto Cubano del Libro, Olga Lidia Triana, lo acusó de "comportamiento mercenario" por publicar su blog en CUBAENCUENTRO.com.
En un post publicado en el sitio del periodista oficialista Manuel Henríquez Lagarde, Triana se refirió a un texto de Santiesteban, en el cual éste describió a miembros de la delegación cubana que asistió en marzo a la Feria del Libro de Mazatlán, México, como "escritores cuya literatura jamás cuestiona la gestión gubernamental".
Triana afirmó que Santiesteban "ha dispuesto de los espacios más importantes para la presentación de su obra" en la Isla y como miembro de delegaciones cubanas en eventos internacionales.
"La exigencia de una especie de realismo antisocialista para nuestra literatura que hace Santiesteban, y los ataques contra los escritores cubanos más bien anuncian que el que se despide, de la ética y de la literatura es él", dijo la funcionaria.
