'Pro-Obama CNN' attacked at Tea Party

A CNN reporter who struggled to keep her cool during one of the anti-Obama demonstrations on Wednesday was subsequently attacked by both the immediate crowds and then the entire online Tea Party community.

The US is split over taxes. On one side, Obama supporters and stimulus package believers. On the other, conservatives and tax opponents. In the middle, the press. This video shows CNN journalist Susan Roesgen reporting from a Tea Party demo in Chicago on Wednesday. Her approach, which appears perhaps subjective, has only given strength to those who claim that CNN is pro-Obama. Gone are the days when Democrats moaned about CNN's support for Bush - it is now under fire for favouring the current president.

The video's been viewed over half a million times, blogged 213, and commented on 6,755.

Good job CNN !

We see the real journalists. Propaganda off.

May be CNN will do a demonstration for Obama one day.

If we see some bloody idiot in demonstration, it's the job of journalists to show the demonstrator lambda.

The bitch should find an other job instead of redefining the journalism.

This is not the best example

This is not the best example of objective journalism, but since when was journalism in the US neutral, balanced and thorough?

It is right to question the motives of the demonstrators. If they are against the government, what do they propose instead? The slogan of the original Boston tea party was 'No Taxation without Representation'. This modern-day rehash, from what I gather from the semi-formulated rationale is 'Representation without Taxation'. It is frustrating to hear the protestors harking back to Licoln's discourse on liberty when the point is that this crisis marks the end of Reganomics, an experiment in which big business was allowed to do what it liked without government intervention. Precisely the OPPOSITE to what the protestors are saying. The fact that the government has to intervene now is that the whole economy does not collapse, with the dire consequences that would follow: mass unemployment, eviction, inflation.

A quick perusal of the main organisation supporting this 'grass roots' (or astro-turf-fake grass roots) movement is Freedom Works. This organisation is for lower taxes and less government, it baulks at the idea of social health care and chokes on the notion of carbon taxation. The fact that consensus is growing amongst the top twenty nations in the world (yes there are nations outside of the US, many in a much more dire economic situation) that the environment, social policy and the current economic crisis are inextracably bound is of great significance. Incidentally, this organisation is backed by a spattering of billionaires who have gained that position precisely due to lack of government intervention and are laughing at those so gullible to believe that their model works.

The point is the tea parties are a gimmick with no real political message in a supposedly mature democracy. Indeed those comparing taxation to genocide demonstrate nothing but complete lack of perspective, not to mention economic understanding.

And for the blogger who refered to the reporter as a 'bitch', please mind your language and when you have something sensible to say come back and perhaps we can discuss rationally one of the gravest crises of our times without resorting to Ad Hominem snipes, which are obviously the lowest form of debating.

It wasn't an anti Obama demonstration

Your story is misleading and therefore just plain false.

The demonstrations across the country were done to protest the madness from government spending. It's been going on for many years, but Obama and the rest of the Democrats went over the top this time. They passed a $1 trillion spending bill they call a "stimulus package". Out of the 535 members of both houses of Congress not one member read the bill, and neither did Obama when he signed it. And if Obama keeps his promises and gets elected for a second term he will have spent more money than every president of the United States combined. Our 44th president, Barack Obama, will have outspent all his predecessors combined. Think about that. He claims he's gonna cut taxes for 95% of Americans and raise taxes on the top 2% to pay for this. It can't be done. If he taxed the top 20% at a rate of 100% and seized all their assets it still wouldn't be enough. On top of that they acknowledge that our debt will double by the time his eight years are up. He's also giving tax cuts to people who don't pay taxes.

As it stands, about 40% of working Americans pay no income taxes at all. What he promised is welfare. He wants so that 50% of workers pay for the other 50%.

And that CNN reporter wasn't struggling to keep her cool. She went ballistic. She broke very rule their is in journalism. She was sent there by CNN to "report". She wasn't sent there as a news analyst to give her opinion. People saw her for the fraud that she is and called her on it. And it's been long overdue. I hope CNN fires her.
