Supporters of Madagascar's ousted president, Marc Ravalomanana, defied the new authorities on Saturday, March 28, causing violent clashes in the capital, Antananarivo. One man marched towards the troops defiantly holding a Madagascar flag in the air. The man, known as "Razily," was arrested, and the video has made him a hero among supporters of Ravalomanana.
Around 20,000 demonstrators protested against new head of state Andry Rajoelina; among them, 34 were reportedly injured. Police prevented the crowds from reaching the May 13 plaza by letting off tear gas. This footage of Razily marching towards the police was filmed from a restaurant in the capital. Posted on citizen media website Sobika.com, it has already had 20,000 views.

I shot the film with my mobile phone camera. We admire this man who only
protested peacefully and who carried the national flag. He walked down Independence Avenue
courageously towards the soldiers, who responded with tear gas. The people
laughing in the video aren't laughing at him but at the idiot soldiers who miss
him when they throw the tear gas. We clapped when he was arrested to praise his action - it was quite simply heroic. We want this video to be
broadcast because we want to see him released. We haven't had any news of him and
I'm very concerned that he'll end up in the morgue. The soldiers that arrested
him are terrorists; everyone is scared of them. Nothing will stop them, that's
how they managed to take power from Ravalomanana."
