"Lack of competition deprives the automobile industry of a future".
Our Observer Alexander attended the continued protests in Vladivostok on Saturday and Sunday. Here are his photos and account of events. This information has not been verified by France 24.
I t was awful. 20 December I came to the square just after midday. There were about 200
-300 people. Nobody had banners or anything that would demonstrate that they
was protesting. After 30 minutes there were already 700-1000 people. And
some of them held banners with funny pictures of Russian cars and
political cartoons. At the end of both sides of the square there
were about four buses. It was the SWAT. After about two hours of peaceful meetings they
started moving around the square so that we were surrounded. Twenty minutes later
I saw that a huge group of people in green helmets and black
masks were moving towards the centre of the crowd. They arrested all the
people who were holding banners; about 15-20 people. They forced the arrestees
into Russian trucks. After 3pm I went home, it was very cold.
21 December.
It was the main day of Russian opposition.
While I was driving to center of Vladivostok
I was stopped by police twice. They checked my documents on car and
driving license. I had realized that that day would have been worth than last
day. Because, actions were hold not only in Vladivostok. So, I came to the square at
12:00. After the 15 minutes they started to move around. There
were lots of journalists and cameramen from Russian and foreign
channels. People were walking around the Christmas tree with very
good mood with "Happy New Year, Happy New Year". Nobody had
banners; there were people who didn't know about the point of meetings... They
started fight and grasp all people who were there no so far from them... They
took journalists; they hit everybody they could catch... I was far away and lucky
to escape again!"
