Welcome to our special edition of The Observers - "USA 2008: The US Election seen through the eyes of 10 American voters." We have signed up a select team of volunteer Observers to tell us what they think of the candidates, the campaigns, and the issues. They come from across the US demographic and political spectrum. They'll tell us how the issues impact their daily lives in the US, and how this might affect their vote on Election Day.
Each week they'll tell us about one campaign issue - the economy, the financial crisis, Iraq and Afghanistan, etc. They'll also watch the presidential debates and tell us how they think the candidates performed. Then they'll join us in a live chat the night of Nov. 4 to see who will be the next president of the United States.
* OK - you've counted the pictures and you see there are only nine. We're looking for one more volunteers to round out our panel - ideally someone who works in the financial industry or who attends an evangelical church. If you're interested, send us an email

A missing viepoint within your Observers
Submitted by Gary (not verified) on Fri, 03/10/2008 - 16:46.I am a church-going Christian member of the Lutheran church-Missouri Synod who understands the differences between "evangelical" churches and mainstream religions. In addition, I have a strong financial bakground because I have an MBA from the University of Chicago.
What I did not see on your panel is someone who has worked all his life to retire and needs to understand which candidate team will be best with the economy to keep my portfolio stable, since it is my only source of income.
I ask you consider me for your 10th panel member of the Observers team. Being retired, my schedule is totally flexible and I am willing to serve and add a desparately needed viewpoint of retired Americans.

Where do you live? You must live on another planet. Obama is the only choice. This country is falling apart. The Trickle down economic policies of the Republicans is not working and never has. McCain and Palin is not the answer. McCain is an old lunatic and Palin is so over her head it's unbelievable. She's an idiot.

Dude; Where do you live?

Where do you live? ‘Trickle Down Economics’ is what socialists (communists who are a little bit pregnant) call capitalism. In our world anti-capitalism murdered over one million people in the 20th Century. Have you been more successful replacing capitalism on Planet Bong?

Submitted by john kletke (not verified) on Tue, 30/09/2008 - 17:46.The Democrats have had control of congree since the mid 40's except for 8 years. During this time socialism and good old boy thief network has been well fed. The republicans party had a great chance to changed this course but choose not to react. Obama would be a major problem for the nation and we will lose many freedoms. I feel the republicans should be given another change then look at third party. Since I see no real difference between the GOP and Democrats.

obama should become
Submitted by Unregistered user (not verified) on Sat, 18/10/2008 - 15:15.obama should become president, bush and the republican policies have failed in every way possible and drastically changed the perception of America from when Clinton was president. It is time for a democratic president, because America cannot afford to reward failure.
