Kalle Eskner, our Swedish Observer, expresses his disappointment after his team's loss.
This was a 92-minute game with everything Sweden could do, both defensively and also offensively, to shock Spain and force them into a "standbymode". Our defensive players did a fantastic job. They did what I wanted! Denying Villa and Torres access to those fast passes near the goal.
As always, Zlatan played a beautiful game. Taking responsibility and and even forcing Spain to make a change when Puyol went out and Albiol came in. I thought it to be tactical since Albiol faced Zlatan many times in the Champions League.
A bit of a rattle that let Elmander take "El chippo's" position since he's a forward and is mostly supposed to change with a forward in the 70th minute of the game to try and score a winning goal. Fast and furious. This change was possibly due to the fact that Elmander has more international experience than Sebastian Larsson.. It was very good though to let Kim Källström enter the game after that.
Sweden did everything as well as they could, but then there was the 93rd minute... I bet on the 1-1 result, hoping it to be true. Sad but true, it didn't end that way. But it was so close. Due to a lot of rain here in Sweden, I followed the game at home. Next time, I'll hopefully be at the park. It's now time for the Greece-Russia game. For us, I think the best result of course is 0-0 or 1-1, or even a Russian victory - but not with too many goals, since, as things stand right now, they have a bad goal difference."
