Desperate for points

After a disastrous opening - where defending champions Greece fell 2-0 to Sweden and Russia were battered 4-1 by Spain - the two teams battle for points in a crucial Group D match.

"We can win if we're not afraid to lose"

Our Russian Observer Ostap Karmodi spoke to Valeriy Nepomnyschiy, former coach of Cameroon national team ahead of this evening's match:

O.K -

In the Euro2004, Russia won only one game, and it was the game against the future Euro champions - the Greeks. Moreover, it was the only game at the competition which the Greeks lost. Will Russia be able to repeat this victory after 4 years?

Coach V.N- We should pay maximum attention to the game, especially at the foot level. And we shouldn't play from defense. Only teams with good defense can play defensive football, and Russia doesn't belong to these teams. So we should go forward. The main threat in this game is us ourselves. We saw it in the game against Spain. Some of the goals happened just because of our own faults. We should be more careful. We can win against the Greeks, if we won't be afraid to lose. Self-confidence – that's what we lack the most."

"It's do or die for both teams"

It's a do or die game for both the Russians and the Greeks. I think Russia matches up extremely well with this current Euro Champ. Pavlyuchenko was slightly injured in last game versus the Spaniards but is expected to play and produce tonight. He will be the star of the match. Defense will have to be much better as they just didnt show up in last match. I fully expect the Russians to win this game and play for the birth in the quarter finals against the Swedes on the 18th. Russia 3 Greece 1."
