“Med erm, Medeved… Meded-deva…whatever…”

Questioned Tuesday about the name of Putin’s successor in a televised debate with Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton faltered to pronounce the name. “Med erm, Medeved… Meded-deva… whatever…” Russian Blogger Alexander Kireev was not impressed.

Discussions about Russia always come with some blatant untruths, and the latest democratic debates are no exception. Hillary stated that "the so-called leading opposition figure spends most of his time praising Putin". Who was she referring to, exactly? A lack of trustworthy information about Russia is scary, but that's not all... Clinton could not pronounce Medvedev's last name.

She's always talking about her experience, including in the realm of international affairs. A candidate that boasts experience and knowledge should know the surname of a person who will shortly become president of a nuclear-armed state. Trying to pronounce the name of Putin's successor, Clinton used the word "whatever". This shows disregard, even disrespect. What for? Why personally insult someone that - if you both become presidents- you will have to meet often and discuss important issues? All this in addition to the personal dig she made at Putin."

Its sounded like Mrs Clinton

Its sounded like Mrs Clinton doesn't have respect for people. You catch more flies with honey than you do with Viniger. Like they say in the mafia don't ever let anyone outside the family know what you are thinking.

I can't comment on the mistrust of Russia any further than saying I do believe that Putin is not letting his hands off the rein of power. It seems that he has done everything he can to rollback time and to bring back a more dark and sinister version of Russian (intent on controlling the press and any other dessenting opinions). All of this based on what I have read and seen.

Regarding Mrs. Clinton's mispronounciation and the "whatever..." word being used. It wasn't a proud moment for her. Though a support of hers, I chuckled a bit that it looked a little bad for her. I don't, however, believe that her throwing in the the word "whatever" was meant as a personal slight to the man himself (or to Russia). I do think that it was her attempt at trying to just quickly move on etc.

As a citizen of the United States, I would love to see improved relations with Russia and wuld hope that any new leadership for Russia would truly be ope to this same goal of honest improvement and cooperation in facing the future. This world is too small for so much tension (both here at home and internationaly).

she probably didn't know how

she probably didn't know how to pronounce Barack obama only a few years ago... Let's hope she learns from her mistakes.
