Unfortunately he is not just a freak... As W. Bush before him and as many others in other countries (as an Italian in this moment I can only envy other countries for their governments and their systems that are in any case less corrupted then ours...) Huckabee is a very foxy and tricky politician.
In a country were ideologies are very important and religion is deeply rooted in the social fabric such a public declaration is simply a way of conquering new voters.
The big point is understanding how democracy ended up to be such a populist version of totalitarianism. And the solution could be only in a more open and critic education, in order to free us from the closures of a non-critic acceptation of the so called "natural" way things are.
