What is strange to me, or maybe it is just expected, but the media has taken this footage and roared with it down the high way. Never mind that no has given these "actors" an opportunity to explain themselves. The result: all white South Africans continues to be seen as villainous racists. You hear outcries of shock and this is a wonderful opportunity to jump on the band wagon and condemn the contents of the video and in the process, all whites in South Africa. I do not condone any act of humiliation or any other act for that matter which infringes a person’s right to dignity. However, one can not condemn one wrong while condoning another. Such double standards are not only unfair but also dangerous. Mr Ngcobo I see, is quick to accuse the parents of these new generation of young people, but fails to mention that hate crimes against whites are rampant in South Africa. The international community is silent when it comes to the terrible and horrendous attacks on white people. why? its justified because of the past. No one speaks of the baby rapes or torture which occur on a daily basis. Why? its justified because of the past. A mother is brutally beaten into a coma, while her 17 year old daughter is savagely raped. I do not recall this incident making international headlines. I don’t recall the story of a young pregnant mother who was shot in the stomach resulting in her baby being born paralysed, ever making international headlines. At the time the local headline read: “youngest hi-jacking victim”. A young female student was recently shot in the back after a burglary resulting in her permanent paralysis. The burglar did not have to shoot her, she was laying helpless on her bed, but he thought it appropriate to empty his gun into her body. I don’t recall this receiving attention internationally. The list is long and graphic and it happens on a daily basis, yet everyone is quite or is just uninformed. Why is this?
Apartheid's unfair racial laws which everybody condemns is now being practiced on whites, but of course, again this is justified because of the past. These young people are born into a world where they are being held responsible for past injustices which they were never part of and therefore not responsible for. They are told that bursaries are reserved only for blacks. Job prospects are bleak because of affirmative action. they don’t enjoy the same rights because they are white. Now with 4 million or so white people and almost 50 million black people, you can imagine how aggressively affirmative action is being pursued, to the extent that because of overwhelming numbers, this new generation is completely excluded. They are constantly being reminded that they are unwanted here in South Africa. What kind of culture do you think is being nurtured in such an environment? Mr Ngcobo further fails to inform you how racist black people are here, how even the president of the ANC still sings that someone should bring his machine gun or “one bullet for one settler”.
What I don’t understand, and maybe someone can help me, but why is it that there is such a circus about an act of humiliation, but no outcry when white people are being brutally murdered on a daily basis? Will I now be seen as racist because I dare to ask this? Should anyone assume that I am fabricating these acts of violence, a quick perusal of the various newspapers here in South Africa or even a local program called “carteblance” will quickly inform you that what I am saying is true. I am not saying white on black racism should be allowed. I am saying no racism should be allowed, irrespective the race of the victims. I am also pleading you to be fair. Do not just cry out for incidents such as that which can be seen on the video footage, but also condemn the violence and hate crimes perpetuated against whites. So please, be fair. Do not be so quick to judge, at least make an attempt to get to the truth and not the edited version of it.
