It’s not just the French: striking Greek workers take to the streets

First it was the French, now the Greeks. A month after French public sector workers took to streets protesting the government's plan to scrap "special regimes" for public sector pensions, the Greeks are doing likewise. This time, it's the structural reforms that Greek Prime Minister Costas Caramanlis hopes to introduce. The streets of Athens were choked with protesters venting their ire. According to the trade unions, 80,000 striking workers marched in the capital and 30,000 in the northern city of Thessaloniki. A second strike is planned for Dec. 24.
