The video below starts with a group of Gaza youths doing flips and other acrobatics in the desert sands outside Khan Younis, a city in the south of the Gaza strip. They are practicing parkour, an urban sport that combines running, jumping over obstacles, and climbing.
Then, all of a sudden, at 1 minute 40 seconds into the video, a bomb strikes only a few hundred metres from where the young men are training. Despite this, the “traceurs”, as parkour athletes are called, keep practicing their flips. They yell “Alla Akhbar” (God is great), and, most surprisingly, smile and laugh. Perhaps a way to show that “despite pain, there is hope” – which is what they titled their video.
