‘Penguin dance’ takes Saudi Arabia by storm

It’s simple, it’s silly -- it’s the Penguin Dance. And it’s sweeping Saudi Arabia. Lately, videos show Saudis dancing like penguins all over the place, from living rooms with traditionally-carpeted walls...

...to wedding halls.

Women dance it…

...and children, too.

Saudi Arabia being a very conservative country, where many forms of entertainment are banned, a backlash is already starting to gain steam. Some online commentators have declared the dance "anti-Islamic", and there are reports of parents forbidding their children from doing it.

However, Saudis are also among the world’s biggest users of YouTube, so the penguin dance continues to spread online unabated.
