Russian artist makes 'house of cards' out of police shields

One of our Russian Observers alerted us to a new work by Timofey Radya that is attracting a lot of attention online since the Russian street artist posted a video on his website.

Called “Stability”, a term frequently used by the Russian government, it features men dressed like riot police building a house of cards with their shields. At the top they place a golden throne, a symbol of power. The structure was short-lived – the wind soon knocked it down.

Radya’s performance coincides with the one-year anniversary of the anti-government protest movement that erupted after Russia's legislative elections last December. He has created politically charged pieces in the past: following the fraud-ridden parliamentary elections, he painted “You were cheated” on giant billboards.
