Not everyone thinks snow is a hassle

While furious commuters railed against the heavy snows that slowed road, rail and air traffic to a crawl in northern France on December 8, others indulged in simple winter joys: making a snowman, listening the muffled crunch of their footsteps in the snow or watching trees ice up.

Kendy Ty, 37, is an illustrator and community manager. He filmed himself walking in the deserted, snow-filled streets of Paris’s 7th arrondissement.

I wanted to capture the spirit of a very special moment. There’s something magic about snow, I think. It brings back childhood memories, it’s sort of mesmerizing to watch it fall. Personally, it matched my mood yesterday: I wanted peace and quiet, I was happy to walk in usually busy streets practically alone.

I read lots of Facebook or Twitter statuses of friends who were enjoying watching the snow falling. Snow slows down the city’s frantic pace, and that’s a good thing once in a while.”
