Unpaid air hostesses take off their uniforms in protest
Employees of Spanish low-cost airline Air Comet haven’t been paid in nine months. In protest, its air hostesses decided to pose nude for a calendar they’re selling online to raise awareness.
Air Comet is 160 million euros in the red, and has now had its licence revoked by authorities. But it still hasn’t paid its 670 employees, and its air hostesses can’t find other work until their employer’s financial and legal mess has been sorted out.
Hernan Alonso Melo Velasquez, a FRANCE 24 Observer in Spain, spoke with one of the unpaid air hostess-turned models, Adriana Ricardo, and sent us these images from the calendar. Ricardo and her colleagues are looking to highlight the problem in the media, and raise money to aid their lack of employment. Charitable readers can email the photographer to buy the calendar for 15 euros.

What is there to stop them? Spanish laws? The contracts? If its the contracts, then would they not be null and void upon not being paid for thier work?

I guess posing for this calendar does not seem like work to these women as air hostesses frequently take their clothes off readily for pilots and passengers. There is a very different kind of morality in this industry than for people that have their feet firmly planted on the ground.
